How to Volunteer

Volunteers play an integral part in enabling The Humane Society for Greater Nashua (HFSN) to accomplish its mission of providing for and protecting abandoned, abused, neglected, and unwanted animals. Without the help of its dedicated volunteers, HFSN would be unable to provide care for the number of animals that reside with us.

The estimated dollar value of volunteer time in 2005 was $18.04 per hour (according to www.independentsector.org). We couldn't do everything that needs to be done without our dedicated volunteers, and we certainly couldn't afford to pay for all of the necessary labor!

Steve (shown in photo) states, “Volunteering here provides me with the personal satisfaction of assisting the staff in the welfare of the animals and knowing that I make a difference.” Steve, a dedicated volunteer who is here six days a week, also participates in Pet Therapy visits and off-site adoption days.

Colleen, a weekend greeter at the shelter states, "I enjoy volunteering at the shelter because the animals supply me with lots of free lovin’.”
