HSFN Adopter Running in Boston Marathon & Raising Funds for our Pets

Meet Lexie. She was adopted from our shelter at 4 years old. She’s now 12 years old and has lived a truly wonderful and happy life with her mom, Michelle Turk. Using her love for Lexie as her inspiration, Michelle is running in the 2014 Boston Marathon and using the race as an opportunity to raise money for our pets. She wants to help other pets in the position Lexie once was, here in our shelter, awaiting for their forever homes.

Michelle ran in the 2013 Boston Marathon, but was stopped at mile 20 after the bombings occurred. Thankfully all of her friends and family waiting at the finish line were not injured. Since she was a 2013 charity runner who had not finished the race, she received an automatic bib for 2014 and was not required to fundraise. However, given the person Michelle is, she wanted to use the race as an opportunity to help a charity, and we’re grateful she chose to support us.

As of 3-14-14, Michelle has raise over $1,600 but she’s hoping to raise more. Below is the link to her on-line fundraising page if you want to show your support for her run http://www.crowdrise.com/michelleturk2014/fundraiser/michelleturk
